Registration Opens for 2025 Three Minute Thesis Competition

CMU Libraries is offering Ph.D. students an exciting opportunity to showcase their research in an internationally recognized competition. CMU doctoral candidates of every level can register to participate in the 2025 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for the chance to gain early career recognition, connect with the campus community, and win prizes of up to $3,000.

One Page at a Time

The “Like, Totally Transformative” exhibit in the Hunt Library Gallery used the Tartan student newspaper to paint a picture of life on campus in the 1980s. To tell that story, the exhibit team relied on the work of the Digitization Lab, which spent nearly twelve years bringing the university's student history online.

Libraries Celebrates Student Publications with Exhibit, Forum

On September 3, a new pop-up exhibit opened on the fourth floor of Hunt Library to celebrate the history and innovation of student publications across CMU. “EXTRA! EXTRA! Student Publications Through the Years” features 31 issues and covers created by students, including both contemporary publications and historic publications provided by the University Archives.

To help Carnegie Mellon students master this core competency, the University Libraries is finding new and innovative ways to navigate and evaluate the evolving data and information ecosystem, fostering more informed and literate communities both in Pittsburgh and at institutions across the country.
