Doctoral Researchers Connect Beyond Disciplines in 3MT Championship

Ten doctoral students shared their complex research and made connections across disciplines during the championship round of Carnegie Mellon University's Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition, held Tuesday, March 11 in McConomy Auditorium of the Cohon University Center. This year’s finalists, who hailed from departments across campus, were challenged to present their theses for a general audience in under three minutes.

Registration Opens for 2025 Three Minute Thesis Competition

CMU Libraries is offering Ph.D. students an exciting opportunity to showcase their research in an internationally recognized competition. CMU doctoral candidates of every level can register to participate in the 2025 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for the chance to gain early career recognition, connect with the campus community, and win prizes of up to $3,000.

Doctoral Students Take On 3MT Challenge

Carnegie Mellon University’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) pits doctoral students against the clock and each other to explain complex research and captivate their audience in just three minutes. Nine finalists will compete in the 3MT Championship on Thursday, March 14, at 6 p.m., in the Tepper School of Business’s Simmons Auditorium A. A livestream will also be available.

5 Years of KiltHub

Carnegie Mellon University’s institutional repository, Kilthub, was launched in July 2018. It replaced and improved upon the previous research repository, Research Showcase@CMU, which had been active for ten years. All content from Research Showcase was migrated into the KiltHub system, preserving metadata and usage statistics.

Open Access Week 2023

Providing Open Access to research and scholarship has become a worldwide movement serving the mission of higher education, and it is strategic for CMU. Open Access disseminates works authored by the Carnegie Mellon community as broadly as possible, encouraging use, increasing citations, and amplifying impact, and enables the CMU community to access works authored around the world.
