Shannon Riffe has been with Carnegie Mellon University since April 2015 and currently holds the title of Associate Dean, External Relations, UEIS. Prior to that she was Associate Director of Online Engagement in the CMU Office of Advancement. Before joining CMU, she held a similar position at the University of Michigan. In her current role, Shannon manages the team of marketing, communications and outreach professionals responsible for cultivating engagement with the units of UEIS - University Libraries (including CMU Publishing), Entertainment Technology Center, IDeATe, and Sustainability Initiative - by communicating the importance and impact of its services, collections, and expertise; creating engaging events around areas of strategic priority; and building relationships to support future goals. She is a two-time judge for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Circle of Excellence Awards in the Category of Digital Communications and a three-time CASE COE award winner. She was a member of the first cohort of the CMULead leadership development program, the Leadership Development Initiative (LDI) XXVIII cohort, and has completed the Carnegie Mellon Executive Leadership Academy. She currently serves as the Libraries' Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead, resulting in the Libraries receiving the Library Excellence in Access and Diversity (LEAD) Award.
