New Battery Packs and Computers Available at Hunt Library

Students working in Hunt Library will now have access to portable battery packs that can be used to charge their devices when no outlets are available. Starting October 31, the 22 new battery packs can be checked out from the circulation desk or borrowed from self-service stations on the third floor of the library.

How the Evidence Synthesis Service Team Helped an Engineering Student Explore Intersections with Open Science

The University Libraries’ Evidence Synthesis Service team has offered their expertise to a number of complex, long-term projects taking place across campus. Since October 2019, Open Science Program Director and Librarian Melanie Gainey and Principal Librarian Sarah Young have collaborated with Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering Assistant Professor Elizabeth Wayne. Their project is a scoping review about the interactions of nanoparticle-based cancer immunotherapy and macrophages in colorectal cancer.[current-date:fallback]

Call for Applicants: Posner Curatorial Internship

Carnegie Mellon University Libraries invites current or incoming graduate students to apply for the recently reimagined Posner Curatorial Internship. The Posner Curatorial Internship supports Carnegie Mellon University graduate students in gaining practical and paid training in rare books and special collections librarianship. The Internship is intended for students who plan to pursue a career in cultural heritage institutions, including work in libraries, archives, and museums.

Biomedical Hackathon Highlighted in “Technical.ly”

On October 24, tech news media company Technical.ly highlighted the biomedical hackathon hosted by the University Libraries and cloud computing and bioinformatics company DNAnexus. The piece explores the collaborative nature of the event, which focused on creating open-source pipelines, and the way the Pittsburgh community came together to facilitate learning and networking.

5 Years of KiltHub

Carnegie Mellon University’s institutional repository, Kilthub, was launched in July 2018. It replaced and improved upon the previous research repository, Research Showcase@CMU, which had been active for ten years. All content from Research Showcase was migrated into the KiltHub system, preserving metadata and usage statistics.
