In early August 2019, Materials Processing Coordinator Leah Zande and Library Programming and Engagement Coordinator Andy Prisbylla attended the annual Advancing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility in Libraries & Archives (IDEAL) in Columbus, Ohio. Formerly the National Diversity in Libraries Conference, the IDEAL conference is an annual event that “will provide an opportunity for professionals at every level and across sectors to discuss how increasing workplace diversity and creating an inclusive workplace environment improves organizational effectiveness, creativity, adaptability, and relevance to the communities served by the organization.” This year’s festivities were held on the Ohio State University campus in Columbus, Ohio on August 6-7 and featured keynote speakers Kimberlé Crenshaw, Professor of Law at UCLA and Columbia Law School, and Nikole Hannah-Jones, investigative reporter for The New York Times Magazine.
