Once again, the Libraries are excited to partner with the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) for the annual SEI Research Services High Tea. Tom Longstaff, SEI chief technical officer and the High Tea’s master of ceremonies, will open the event, which will focus on cooperative library science. Longstaff’s remarks will be followed by presentations from four speakers:
- Keith Webster, dean of Carnegie Mellon University Libraries and program co-chair for the AIDR (Artificial Intelligence for Data Discovery and Reuse) 2019 conference: The Library’s Role in the Fourth Industrial Revolution
- Sarah Sheard, principal engineer at the Software Engineering Institute: Systems at the SEI
- Matt Burton, lecturer in the Department of Information Culture and Data Stewardship at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Computing and Information: AI and the Future of Library Science
- Tom Corbett, special faculty at the Entertainment Technology Center: Forms Follow Functions: How AI and Spatial Computing Will Impact the Future of Video Games and Historic Preservation
A reception follows the speakers from 3 - 4 p.m. in the SEIber Café. The reception will feature various teas, sandwiches and pastries inspired by the traditional English “high tea.” This event is open to all SEI staff and the Carnegie Mellon University community. The event’s first hour will be live streamed.
